The Hull Identification Selection (HIN) is usually a 12- or fourteen-character serial amount that uniquely identifies a ship. The HIN is analogous to some VIN on a vehicle.

The 1st 3 digits would be the Producer’s Identification Code (ex. Boat manufacturer such as Sea Ray, Meridian, etcetera.). The four digits following that are definitely the maker’s serial range for that boat. The 3rd and 4th digits through the finish will be the day of manufacture.
